Oh what would I do without Pushkin's! They are according to there website "your Sacramento area exclusive wheat/gluten and dairy-free dedicated bakery." They are open five days a week, closed Sunday and Monday. Everyday they post their daily menu. Their menu is always quite extensive, they have vegan offerings and sandwiches you can get for on the go. They even make their own chips! Now I've had so many things from here it's hard to remember them all, but below I'll review everything I can remember having.
“Awesomes” (Lemon Poppyseed Pound Cakes): These are small little poppers that are just so yummy! They have a little bit of glaze on top and are about the size of a doughnut hole. They really speak for themselves they are "awesome!"
"Dudes” (Mini Peanut Butter Cookies with Chocolate Chips and Chocolate Ganache): This cookie is another one of the mini things they do. It has a drizzling of chocolate ganache that really makes this cookie shine. They took a basic peanut butter cookie and made it way better.
Bread Bun: So this is one of the very few things on the menu I don't think I would get again. I got these on a Saturday and saved them in the fridge for a few days so I could make dinner for my family with them. They unfortunately were a let down, but they may have been due to how I was storing them.
No Names: You know how when you get a cinnamon roll the only part you really want is the middle? Well that's what this is! A no name is just the middle of the cinnamon roll! It's amazing and one of my favorites!
Banana Bread (Vegan): This is a little loaf of banana bread and is quite tasty. While I don't get it every time that is purely, because I enjoy their chocolate items so much!
Chocolate Crinkle Cookie: This cookie was voted as the best cookie in the Sacramento Area and it truly is one of the best cookies I've had if not the best! It's like you're eating a brownie, but then it's not like that all at the same time! The powdered sugar on top goes with it perfectly! If you ever get a chance to go to Pushkin's make sure to get this cookie!
Mud Pie Cookie: This cookie I saw for the first time on my most recent visit. It was a huge cookie and according to one of the owners that was helping me out it has no flour and is basically mainly egg. It was really good and I would definitely get this again. I just have to hope they'll have it on the menu when I come in.
Double Chocolate Walnut Cookie (Vegan): As you can tell I love their chocolate items so of course I love this cookie as well! The name really speaks for itself and I like that it has nuts in it.
Cranberry Oatmeal Pecan Cookie: Now I love oatmeal cookies and this one is just perfect. They sometimes have different variations I've had one with raisins to I'm sure, but they always are great. Usually they are smaller looking than the other cookies, but they are thicker!
Marble Pound Cake: One of the other cakes I probably won't get again. While I really like coffee I felt the chocolate part of this cake tasted like coffee and I actually didn't prefer it. I would of preferred a chocolate flavor.
Meyer Lemon Pound Cake: Similar to the "awesomes" in my opinion, but according to the owner it actually is a different recipe. I guess I would have to put them side by side to be able to tell the difference.
Strawberry Lemon Cupcake (Pictured Above): This was a really good cupcake. I really enjoyed the frosting on this, but I really like their frosting in general. They always have some fruity lemon cupcake and I almost always get one. :)
Barracuda Cupcake (Vegan): This is basically an all chocolate cupcake. Chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, and chocolate ganache, but boy it is good! If you like chocolate this is a must get!
Russian Tea Cake: These are small little cookies with powdered sugar on the outside. I've only gotten them once since it isn't a type of cookie I would usually get.
Lemon Bars: My dad convinced me to get this the first time we ever came here. I think it was because he loves lemon so much. While this bar was delicious and I loved the crust on it, it was nice and buttery. I haven't gotten it since, simple because I'm not a huge lemon person.
Mixed Berry Ganache Slice (Vegan) (Pictured Below): This cake is amazing and will one day be my wedding cake! (thinking way to far ahead) It was really just that good. I love the berries and it's really chocolaty. I make sure and get this if they are cutting off slices every time!
Keep in mind while they are a dedicated gluten and dairy free bakery. They do use peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, and I'm not sure about soy, but make sure to talk to them about ingredients when you come in. :)
